The European Researchers’ Night takes place every year simultaneously in several hundred cities all over Europe and beyond. The key objective of the event is to increase general public awareness of the diversity of scientific research and also to promote and facilitate greater public participation in the entire scientific process.
One of the further goals that the event organisers have set is to enhance youth’s understanding of science and research and encourage them to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
ERIGrid will be participating in the event, sharing knowledge on smart grid research, in particular:
- the importance of a higher level of automation in the context of the integration of decentralised and renewable energy sources in the electrical grid
- the role of information and communication technology in this domain
- the importance of the development and validation of cross-domain smart grid approaches
The programme of the event will include various engaging activities ranging from interdisciplinary science booths, workshops, and the dedicated EU corner to science slam sessions and science cafes.
